![]() ![]() We were not prepared for the lack of basic ammenities and uncleanliness. For the price we paid at the Flamingo, we did not expect much. We have been coming annually to Cozumel, Playa or Isla Mujeres for 10 years and have stayed in hotels ranging from simple beach cabanas, all inclusives, to 5 diamond reorts like the Presidente Intercontinental. We are not divers but wanted to try a hotel close to town for a change. We booked 4 nights in March 05 based on the glowing reviews we read. This is a fantastic cheap option for the island and a great place to stay make sure you take a beer to the terrace and watch the sunset! … The bar area is nice it was hard to drag ourselves away for an evening out. I would 100% recommend eating at the restaurant if the 19 yr old guy is cooking he is amazing (sorry I forget his name) The fish was delicious the best food I had in Mexico without a doubt. The location of the hotel is close to the town but not beaches. ![]() If you can drive rent a car as you'll see so much more and the taxis can start to get a bit pricey. The Flamingo is very nice, basic but the A/C and TV worked the rooms were clean and the beds comfy, the staff are very nice and the owner Tom very helpful with places to go etc.We did lots of snokerling and horse riding and really liked the beaches at Mr Sanchez beach club. Whoever is in charge here should be deeply ashamed.…Īlthough we were planning to stay in Playa Del Carmen and only realised we were staying on Conzumel on the way to Playa we were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the island. There are dozens and dozens of other hotels to choose from in Cozumel, and I reccomend trying any of them other than the Flamingo. The WiFi existed, though it wasn't particulary strong in our room and went out often. The king bed was great, there were good sheets, and the staff was nice. Railings to keep guests from plummeting to their deaths would be a nice addition, but there were also no railings in the stairwells, which were dirty, with broken marble risers and lots of sharp, jagged edges. The rooftop deck looked nothing at all like the picture. There were exposed wires hanging down from the ceiling where recessed lighting should go. The bar had its share of dust on the chairs, the lamps, and the bartop. ![]() There were pipes sticking out of the walls to the right of the bed, and a cloth plugged into a hole. ![]() The room had clearly been cleaned, but neither deep nor often enough. The ceiling fan needed a good cleaning, as did the closet doors. The bathroom windowsill was filthy with debris. The shower curtain was a 99 cent model from the discount store, hung from a cheap expandable rod. There was an exposed electrical junction box over the sink. There were still spacers in the stonework, some alarmingly sharp. There was no towel rack in the bathroom, which looked like it wasn't quite finished. After it being opened by the staff, the bolts to secure it to the shelf or wall were discovered inside. There was no drinking water provided in our room, not even one of those tiny plastic 12 oz. There was no minibar, no tv, no telephone, no bathrobe, no mosquito net, no hairdryer, no alarm clock. Our room was not as advertised, to the point that it was a nearly a scam.
